Only two bullfights and one bullfight make up the 2021 bullfighting fair in Malaga due to the pandemic, which has forced the suspension of the festive celebration in the streets for the second consecutive year.
The festivities, which will be held from August 20 to 22, have been presented this Thursday by the company Lances de Futuro, and will be of a charitable nature in favor of the El Pimpi Foundation and the Little Sisters of the Poor. The allowed capacity will be 50% and all anticovid measures will be applied.
The event was attended by the counselor of the Presidency of the Board, Elías Bendodo; the president of the Malaga Provincial Council, Francisco Salado; the mayor of the Malaga capital, Francisco de la Torre, the bullfighters Salvador Vega and Pablo Aguado and the businessman José María Garzón, organizer of the cycle.
Francisco Salado affirmed that “the Provincial Council supports bullfighting without fissures. We have no complex to say so. It is our history, our culture, our economy, our environmental wealth; and a perfect complement to the wide tourist offer that the province of Malaga offers ”. He also highlighted the work carried out by the El Pimpi Foundation and the Hermanitas de los Pobres congregation. “These two social groups will benefit from the solidarity and generosity of the people of the bull, who are always there,” he added.
The first date will be the traditional Picassian bullfight on August 20, an initiative that emerged in 2003 as a tribute to the great painter through an artistic bullfight. This celebration will feature the right-handed Morante de la Puebla, Juan Ortega and Pablo Aguado and bulls from Juan Pedro Domecq and Parladé. In addition, the Provincial Symphony Orchestra will intervene, and the scenography will be the responsibility of the French painter Loren Pallatier.
For his part, the businessman José María Garzón thanked the Provincial Council for its support, and pointed out that “these are topped posters, with bullfighting figures, bullfighters from Malaga, first-rate cattle ranches and, the most important thing is that the Malagueta flourish as what It is a first-class square ”.
On the other hand, Malaga has joined the centenary of the birth of the Sevillian right-hander Pepe Luis Vázquez, and his figure appears on the poster announcing the celebrations of La Malagueta, in which he made the walk so many times.
